Metroparks accepting bin donations

Metroparks Toledo programming and volunteer services are looking for bucket and cat litter bin donations. Programming uses them for trash, compost and recycling during summer camps.

OAPSE recognizes custodial staff

The Ohio Association of Public School Employees 478 would like to recognize the custodial staff at Springfield Local School District. “They are a dedicated department of employees whose jobs tend to be less than glamorous at times, none the less they get it done,” said Steve Mueller OAPSE 478 vice president.

County engineer’s office receives grant for roundabout

The Lucas County engineer’s office has been awarded a federal grant for construction of a new roundabout at Bancroft Street and King Road in Sylvania and Springfield townships. The project will involve removal of the existing traffic signal at the intersection, updated drainage, sidewalks and construction of a roundabout.

Have you ever been in the moment and looked around and noticed some of the things that you see every day, but for some reason in this moment, they strike you for how powerful they are. This happened a few weekends ago and it reminded me of how amazing it is to be a parent and have a high school student. I use the word “amazing” even though being a parent of a teenager is deep with stress, worry and bills. But I wanted to take a minute to say thank you to all the parents out there who help get our students to be so great with such awesome futures.
