Countertop Shop hosting toy drive for area children

Body
Mike and Karen Langenderfer, owners of the Countertop Shop, 9300 Airport Highway, Monclova, are hosting a toy drive in hopes of making Christmas a little brighter for area children. Their efforts began 10 years ago when they hosted a Christmas party to celebrate the opening of their Airport Highway showroom and invited guests to bring unwrapped toys for area children. Again this year, suppliers, employees and customers are all stepping up and dropping off toys at the store. Toys and gifts collected will be distributed through Herb’s Heroes, a charitable organization created by Dawn Pratt in memory of her father. The campaign runs through Monday, December 11. Anyone wishing to donate a toy can bring it to the shop during store hours which are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Welcome to the month of December. I hope you all had a fantastic and restful fall break. Before we left for break, we held our second annual Macy’s Day parade. This year our theme was “Balloons Over Broadway.” Our kindergarten and first grade classes created a beautiful skyline backdrop during STEAM class and our second and third grade classes created their own floats during STEAM. The second and third grade classrooms paraded through the cafeteria with the kindergarten and first grade classes cheering them on. It was a great way to begin fall break.
