The distribution of community grants was included in the ceremonies. A highlight was the presentation of a $1,350 grant to Springfield Township for their sponsorship of the experiences we’re creating to celebrate the upcoming total eclipse of the sun in April, 2024. More information about all the experiences will be shared soon.

On November 2 through 4, Blue Devil drama was very busy presenting the play, “One Stoplight Town.” It is a story set in a town so small that they’ve never had a stoplight before. The play features a cranky grocer who is afraid of change, an insightful handywoman, a couple of old geezers who watch over everyone and many other citizens of this tiny town as well as a working stoplight. The messages from the play—that change is inevitable, we all can do big things in our own time and there should always be time to slow down and take in everything life offers us— were presented with humor and heart. While Mrs. Amy Corser directed the production, the students in the cast and crew brought so many details to life with the set, props and acting. Thank you to everyone who attended.

Body
Odds are park goers pass a small common tree in mixed hardwood forests without giving it a second look. Call it a tall shrub or a small tree, either way, witch-hazel loves growing in moist soils, satisfied with the limited amount of sunlight it typically enjoys in the shady forest.
