In conjunction with the Toledo Zoo, students visited the prairie. With the guidance from a Toledo Zoo staff member, the students were given the opportunity to explore the wildlife in the prairie, both in the forms of plant life and bug life.

Volunteers clean up area streams

Partners for Clean Streams and community partners hosted the 27th annual Clean Your Streams Day on September 30. For the fourth year, volunteers also had the option to participate in a remote kickoff, cleaning a waterway site at a time and location of their choosing.

Penta ‘Cruise-In’ draws largest crowd yet

On October 4, Penta Career Center hosted its 12th Cruise-In car show at the Perrysburg Township campus. The decision to reschedule it from the previous week due to inclement weather proved a wise choice as clear skies and mild weather drew a large crowd.

Twp. trustees amend zoning for solar arrays, Spring Meadows overlay district

After being recommended for approval by the Springfield Township zoning commission and the Toledo Lucas County Plan Commission, two text amendments to the township zoning resolution were approved. At the October 10 meeting, the trustees approved amendments pertaining to solar power and the Spring Meadows overlay district, which runs along Airport Highway from Holland Sylvania Road west to Holloway Road.

White‐crowned sparrow among fall migrating birds

Humans are not the only ones reacting to the recent chilly, windy weather. “While we’re breaking out the sweatshirts and jackets, some of our migrating songbirds are stopping over on their way south,” explained Art Weber, Metroparks Toledo nature photographer.

I am proud to announce that Sam Huang and Ashton Graham have been named Commended Students in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. They were presented with letters of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program.
