Area residents invited to enter contest for a chance to win tickets to the Italian Football championship

The Italian Football League is hosting its 42nd championship on Saturday, July 1 at the University of Toledo Glass Bowl, and area residents have the opportunity to win tickets. The game, Italy’s equivalent to the Super Bowl, is debuting in the United States for the first time ever. The league chose Toledo, noting that Ohio is considered the birthplace of football.

Eastbound Sylvania Ave. to close at Mitchaw Road

A section of Sylvania Avenue near the roundabout at Mitchaw Road in Sylvania Township will close starting Monday, June 19 for an improvement project. Eastbound Sylvania from Bridgecreek Road to the roundabout at Mitchaw will be closed for five days.

Blood drive scheduled for June 27 in Holland

The American Red Cross experienced a shortfall in blood and platelet donations last month and is seeking the public’s help to ensure a strong blood supply this summer by making and keeping an appointment to give in the weeks ahead.

McCord Road closes for five days

The Ohio Department of Transportation is conducting a safety improvement project at the intersection of Airport Highway and McCord Road. Due to the project, lane restrictions on McCord Road between Airport Highway and Spring Valley and Centers drives will experience night time closures starting on Friday, June 16, for five days.

Breakfast on the Farm set for June 24

The 2023 Fulton County Breakfast on the Farm event will be held on Saturday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Triple H Farms in Metamora, Ohio. Pre-registered guests will enjoy a free breakfast and have the opportunity to meet cows, calves and horses.

Rummage sale is June 21-24

Maumee St. Joseph’s Catholic Church is having its annual summer rummage sale. The dates are Wednesday, June 21, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 10 percent markup; Thursday and Friday, June 22 and 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to noon. On Saturday, clothing will be $1 per brown paper grocery bag and half price on other items. The rummage sale will be held in the school gym, 120 West Broadway, Maumee. Those attending are asked to enter through the gym lobby.
