Springfield Middle School News

Springfield Middle School students are challenged in many ways. Those so inclined can develop their athletic prowess, others explore the arts, many more use their time, voices and energy to help solve a myriad of social issues and others prepare for and compete in competitions to represent themselves and our school.

On Saturday, February 4, 13 SMS students attended the Power of the Pen (POP) district tournament held at Tiffin Middle School. They competed with students representing 16 other schools from the area. The SMS eighth grade team ranked fifth place and the seventh grade team earned sixth place.

Kennedy Gist, Jayleigh Koback and Hope Snyder qualified for the POP regional tournament for seventh grade. Lily-Elizabeth Hall, Katie Hudak and Makayla Graham qualified for POP regionals for the eighth grade team. The POP regional tournament will take place on Saturday, March 11, at Lourdes University. We know our students are working hard to prepare for their next challenges.

We are very proud of each young writer and wish them luck in March.
