At the August 14 meeting, the Penta Career Center board of education approved a construction agreement for the emobility lab addition at its main campus on Buck Road in Perrysburg Township.
The board authorized Superintendent Ed Ewers and Treasurer Mike Harrigan to enter into agreements with Rudolph Libbe, Inc. to provide construction services pertaining to electrical equipment at a cost not to exceed $335,734.
In a related matter, the board approved a change order for the e-mobility lab totaling $165,270.
Kleinfelder Architecture Inc. requested the additional funds to cover the cost of additional design and related construction administration services as a result of changes in the size and scope of the lab project.
The change brings the total amount to $619,905.
Other Business
In other business, the board:
•Employed the following certified personnel: Dennis Kajfasz, long-term substitute teacher; part-time adult education instructors at $31 per hour, August 1 to June 30, 2025, Joshua Drouard, Cuyler Kepling and Hebert Scarborough; part-time adult education instructors at $33 per hour, August 1 to June 30, 2025, Vicki Lammie and Robert Miller; substitute school nurses, Samantha Cooper, Carla Kaiser and Christine Woycitzky.
•Approved the resignations of cafeteria workers Barbara Hummel, effective August 2, and Katie Jester, August 12.
•Employed four support personnel. They are Sherri Blankenship and Gracie Mauser, cafeteria workers, effective August 8 and 19 respectively; Lori Kritzell-Noe, instructional aide, August 8, and Kevin Smith, maintenance, September 3.
They also hired three student workers at $12.65 per hour and six job coaches, $16.72 hourly. The job coaches are Jessica Beckwith, Marsha Berger, Julie Cohen, Amber Gonyer, Dianna Hillabrand and Margaret Orzechowski.
•Accepted a 10-year service OSBA award on behalf of board member Diane Balcerzak, who was absent from the meeting.
The certificate of recognition was presented to Superintendent Ewers by Sue Larimer, who is the northwest representative for the Ohio School Boards Association and a member of the Perrysburg board of education.
•Approved as spring semester interns three Bowling Green State University students. They are Kaia Moehling, Colton Chaney and Julia Ritzler.
•Appointed board member Peggy Thompson as delegate and Ken Sutter as alternate at this year’s OSBA meeting.
•Approved nine requests to attend professional meetings.
The next school board meeting will be at 5:15 p.m., Wednesday, September 11 in the board meeting room at the career center, 9301 Buck Road, Perrysburg Township, and is open to the public.
