Trustees address police shifts, return to work

At the May 20 meeting, Police Chief Mark Hetrick said the police union recently approached him about maintaining the current 12-hour shifts established during the height of the COVID-19 outbreak.
“After being on it for the pandemic, many like it. The bargaining units voted to remain on 12’s,” he said, adding that officers are willing to work the shifts until details can be worked out with the trustees.
