Spring cleaning fever hits the Point

Volunteers clean frog, plant flowers at lighthouse

Taking advantage of the picturesque spring weather over the last week, several local helpers worked on beautification projects around the Point Place-Shoreland area.

Volunteers came together to manicure and clean up the flower bed surrounding Handsome Prints, the Point’s frog statue.

Joyce Ejhinger, of the Point Place Business Association (PPBA), takes care of the location, but she was unable to do much work this year with the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She reached out for help on Facebook. Eleven adults and three children volunteered, and many others donated funds, flowers and more. Firefighters from Toledo Fire Department Station 24 also provided water.

They finished the job in three hours.
