Board seeks place of honor for RHS basketball coach in new building
The Rossford Board of Education is pondering a place of honor in the new junior-senior high school to remember legendary basketball coach Leroy “Cot” Marquette.
At their October 12 meeting, the board was asked by former board member Moe Minarcin to memorialize the coach.
Describing his background, Mr. Minarcin noted how the late RHS teacher and coach was “pretty impressive.”
During his five years at Rossford, Coach Marquette compiled a record of 80-12 and was named Coach of the Year in the NLL and Wood County. His teams won five NLL titles, from 1962-1966, and the ’66 team created a lasting legacy for what became the tradition and mindset of Rossford basketball for decades to come.
