The Springfield High School softball team finished a storybook season, competing in the State of Ohio softball championship game. Although they came up short against Lakota West, 9-2, on June 4, the Blue Devils completed the 2022 season in second place, something no team in school history has ever accomplished. The student-athletes displaying their trophy and medallions, above, were welcomed home by an enthusiastic group of supporters.
The spring season also went well for the boys track team, which was the Northern Lakes League champions. Runners Javon Fletcher-Johnson and Maira Scott had outstanding seasons. Javon was a state qualifier for the 200 meter dash, and Maira was the regional champion in the 200 meter dash and qualified for the 100, 200 and 400 meter dash at State. There, she took eighth place in the 100 meter and second place in the 200 meter.
