Actors Collaborative Toledo, Trinity Episcopal Church present ‘Winter Rain’

The Actors Collaborative Toledo (ACT) and Trinity Episcopal Church will present “Winter Rain: Six Images of Thomas Merton” by Anthony Padovano on Saturday, March 25, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 26, at 3 p.m., at the church, 316 Adams Street, Toledo.

The play is comprised of six monologues performed by six actors, each portraying Mr. Merton at different stages of his life. The show begins in 1941 at a railway station as he prepares to travel to Gethsemane to join the monastery and concludes with a posthumous monologue after his untimely and mysterious death in Thailand in 1968.

Mr. Merton was a jazz aficionado. To complement the performance, local musician and singer, Tajj Crowder will perform a prelude of jazz music on the piano with interludes between each scene.

The six actors portraying Mr. Merton are Barbara Barkan, Charles Crockett, Angie Gresko, Matt Kizaur, Mark Owen and Phil Skeldon. The reading is directed by ACT’s co-founder Jeffrey Albright.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at act419.org or at the door beginning one hour before each performance.
