Adopt-a-thon planned for local dog trainer’s 10-year anniversary

On Saturday, August 19, Toledo-based and womanowned dog training business Canine Karma will celebrate its 10-year anniversary with a variety of dog-centric activities, food and fun events for all.

From noon to 3 p.m. at 6549 Angola Road, Canine Karma will host a parking lot party and adopt-a-thon for Lucas County Canine Care and Control, as well as a supply drive for the shelter. Attendees are asked to bring canned dog food, treats, blankets and other supplies for the shelter dogs.

Donors will receive Karma Cash, able to be used towards purchases at Canine Karma.

In conjunction with the adopt-a-thon, Canine Karma is offering “Rescue University,” a twice-a-week program given to shelter dogs to give them a break from the shelter and learn important skills to make them more adoptable and appealing to potential adopters. Adopting families also are offered the free training.

Local band Pop’s Garage will perform from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., and We Be Ribs will be on-site selling food, along with various vendors. There also will be dog trick and dog costume contests.

Canine Karma has been voted as the Best Dog Trainer by the Toledo City Paper for the past three years.
