Alzheimer’s expert to speak at MSC Health and Wellness Fair

Learn the warning signs and risk factors of Alzheimer’s and Dementia at the upcoming 11th annual Maumee Senior Center Health and Wellness Fair on Friday, September 5.

Expert Dakota Stone, a licensed social worker and program coordinator with the Alzheimer’s Association Northwest Ohio Chapter, will offer the presentation at both 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. during the health fair. The health fair takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Maumee Senior Center, 2430 South Detroit Avenue, Maumee.

“New this year, we are adding an informational presentation on a hot topic for seniors. Providing more information in a different format just seemed like a natural expansion for the annual health fair,” said Malinda Ruble, executive director of the center. “We are pleased that Dakota will be able to share her information about brain health and how to decrease chances of getting dementia with attendees.”

Stone has been working with caregivers and families affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia for more than six years. She has a passion for educating communities and helping people find resources and support. Stone is a summa cum laude graduate of Case Western Reserve University with a masters of science degree in social administration.

In addition to the presentation, attendees will be able to participate in free health screenings, meet with more than 35 local healthcare professionals and gather local community resource information. A free lunch, provided by Maumee Pointe, will be available as well.

Seniors attending will have a chance to enter a drawing for a grand cash prize, as well as other vendor drawings.
