Around the Township

Editor’s Note: The following is a new column offered by Springfield Township.

Around the Township The Springfield Township trustees and administration would like to thank the Journal for providing space to update residents on happenings around the township.

There are many residents who regularly visit our website for information, but if anyone has not, township officials urge them to check out springfieldtownship.net.

Here, residents can learn more about their elected trustees and fiscal officer, plus review meeting documents. Visitors also can learn what roles employees play in the government and explore the meeting/activities calendar. They also can check the availability and requirements for using Springfield Township rental space.

The website provides resource information for the community’s youth sports and very soon will feature information and details regarding plans for next year’s total eclipse of the sun.

Speaking of that, here is an interesting fact: there are five “stages” to a solar eclipse. We are using that as our foundation to introduce Springfield Township’s Arranged Gazing Eclipse of the Sun. The township is setting the STAGE for arranged gazing opportunities that will take place in the area before and on April 8, 2024—a once in a lifetime event. Township officials look forward to raising awareness of what is to come and creating memories for every child and adult.

Planners of the event are encouraging everyone to get involved. Become a sponsor, serve on a committee or volunteer during the activities.

For more information, contact Kristina White, director of event operations, at 419-865-0239, extension 125 or send an email to events@springfieldtown ship.net. More specific details will be rolled out soon and will appear in this column.
