Art and About to be in Waterville June 16-18

The ninth annual Anthony Wayne Area Arts Commission open air event–Art and About 2022: Jim White Memorial Paint Out will take place in downtown Waterville from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., June 16, 17 and 18. It is free and open to the public.

A three-day event Art and About features local artists who set up and paint outdoors throughout the historic city. The public is invited to watch and interact with them as they work.

People wishing to view artists may find locations by visiting 3rd Street Blooms between 9 and 11 a.m. Commission members will share the locations of artists. It also will be posted on the AWAAC Facebook page.

In addition to artists, the Waterville Historical Society will host “Portraits of a City,” an exhibit of the historical society’s art. It can be viewed at Wakeman Hall, 401 Farnsworth Road.

Numerous paintings will be on display created by Jim White, Walter Chapman, Robert Stearns and David Myerholtz.

Paintings from Art and About will be on display in the Waterville Branch Library, 800 Michigan Avenue, from June 18 through July 4. The public is invited to view the work and cast their votes for the People’s Choice.

Awards will be given for first, second and third places and People’s Choice. This year’s juror is Teri Bersee, former owner of Bountiful Arts Studio in Waterville.
