The Arts Commission announced the call for artists for their 2023 Momentum Festival. Local visual, performing and literary artists are encouraged to apply online by Wednesday, July 12.
The Momentum Festival will use currently vacant spaces on North Superior Street to exhibit art by Toledo-area creatives in a non-juried, multimedia arts showcase for which any local artist is eligible.
Accepted artists will exhibit their work on September 8, 15 and 16. Exhibition times will be 5 to 10 p.m. on September 8 and 15, and 1 to 10 p.m. on September 16.
Exhibition space will vary depending on the building location, but all spaces will be on the first or ground floor to allow accessibility for artists and event attendees.
Applications opened on June 27, and close on Wednesday, July 12, at 11:59 p.m. Artists will be notified on July 24, and will be able to install their art from August 21 to September 1.
Artists must participate in no fewer than 4 volunteer hours during the festival, including set-up, tear-down, safety monitoring or other duties as assigned. They also must have a residence or creative studio within 50 miles of the downtown Toledo area.
