To celebrate the new year, Lucas County Canine Care and Control is offering an adoption special of $23 and the chance to win a dog DNA test kit.
Through Tuesday, January 31, the fee to adopt dogs and puppies from canine care is being reduced. The adoption fee includes having the dog spayed or neutered, initial vaccinations, registered microchip, heartworm testing and prevention and parasite treatment if needed.
The adoption of any dog requires the purchase of a $25 Lucas County 2023 dog license. Families who adopt a dog during the special will be entered in a raffle to win a doggy DNA test.
More than 70 dogs and puppies are searching for new homes with more going up for adoption each day.
Visit lucascountydogs. com/adoption/ to view dogs ready for a home or go to the canine care’s Facebook page.
Those interested in adopting who already have a dog and have room in your heart, are asked to bring their resident dog for a meet and greet. Staff also encourage families to bring their children to meet the new pet.
The center always accepts donations of newspapers, clean towels and blankets, treats and toys. Monetary donations can be made to Cutie’s Fund via cash, check or PayPal to help pay for the medical needs of the dogs who come into our care.
In addition, those interested in volunteering are welcome to visit the shelter and complete an application or send an email to LC4volun teers@co.lucas.oh.us.
Lucas County Canine Care and Control Center is at 410 South Erie Street, Toledo and is open 11 a.m. to 6 pm., Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
