County commissioners purchase property for King, Angola roundabout

A proposed roundabout at the intersection of King and Angola is one step closer to reality with Lucas County’s purchase of property for the project.

At the October 19 meeting, the county commissioners accepted a contract with Terry J. and Margo S. Lodge for two parcels for $21,750 and $3,000 respectively.

The larger purchase is for 0.4 acres at 7551 Angola Road and the smaller 0.25-acre lot is at 851 South King Road.

In September, the Springfield Township trustees donated land for an easement at the administration/public services complex to the county engineer for construction of the roundabout.

Mr. Hampton said the east drive of the township administrative complex will be part of the roundabout with right in and right out access to the office building. Work is scheduled to begin in spring 2022.
