Students at Crissey Elementary have been actively engaged in learning about and exploring the prairie located just beyond their school playground. Project Prairie is an educational initiative that connects local schools with the Toledo Zoo.
Over the past month, kindergarten students have utilized their senses to navigate the various paths in the prairie. Each first grade student took on the role of a botanist, diligently taking notes while closely examining the prairie environment. Second and third grade students studied the diverse insects that inhabit the prairie and learned about the life cycles of these insects.
The prairie consistently brings excitement and joy to the students at Crissey Elementary, evident in their enthusiastic cheers when they discover a beautiful flower or their delighted shrieks when they encounter a plant that surpasses their teacher’s height.
