Elementary year to begin with Springfield Jump Start

The Springfield Local School District will begin a new elementary back-to-school year with a tradition called Springfield Jump Start days.

The goal is to provide a more personal touch to start the school year.

Students in pre-K through grade 5 will have an opportunity to meet with teachers individually before the start of the school year.

Teachers will assess students during 45-minute appointments over a four-day period.

Families and students can use this time to get to know the teachers, see their classrooms, tour the building, drop off school supplies and take care of other start of the school year housekeeping issues, such as updating family contact information and paying fees.

There will be no classes for students in pre-K through grade 5 from August 23 to 28, only pre-scheduled appointments with teachers.

Families with students in pre-K through grade 5 should have received an email from the district, with a link to schedule an appointment. Those who did not receive an email should make sure their contact information is up-to-date.
