The community is invited to enjoy special musical Christmas offerings December 11 and 15 at First Presbyterian Church of Maumee, 200 East Broadway.
The annual Christmas Concert is at 4 p.m., Sunday, December 11. The monthly recital series continues at 1 p.m., on Thursday, December 15. Both events are free and will be held in the church’s sanctuary.
The two-part Christmas concert on December 11 will highlight church musicians and guest artists, with traditional Christmas performances presented by the Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, and organist Wayne Whitten to begin the concert. The second part features the church’s modern service musicians sharing a performance of “Behold the Lamb of God,” a folk-style, Advent song-cycle by Andrew Peterson that traces the story and hope of Christ found throughout the scriptures. A reception of wassail punch and Christmas cookies will follow.
The monthly Afternoon Recital Series on December 15 will include performances from area musicians: Yasmeen Perrin, soprano; Julia Gries, mezzo-soprano; Nick Kottman, tenor; and Lucas Lourenco, baritone, along with sing-alongs of classic Christmas carols. The program will have a duration of approximately 50 minutes. An informal reception will follow.
