Free, three-day event ‘Early Ohio on the Portage’ set

The public is invited to Maumee Valley Heritage Corridor’s annual free three-day event, “Early Ohio on The Portage,” Friday, May 5, through Sunday, May 7, on the grounds of the Wood County Museum, Bowling Green.

Reenactors will demonstrate early life in Ohio by portraying settlers from 1700s through 1865.

Participants may camp Thursday through Sunday.

Skill demonstrations include cooking, gathering food, making clothing, laundering, building furniture and weaving.

The event will feature cannon and musket demonstrations, food, kettle corn, live animals, music and more.

There will be a free evening lantern tour of the camp on Saturday, May 6.
