October is National Women's Small Business Month celebrating the creative entrepreneurs who took the plunge to start a small business despite gender barriers.
In conjunction with the month, HeForShe will present a forum at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 27, at the Toledo Museum of Art, Glass Pavilion.
The forum will feature panelists of husband-and-wife duos, father/daughter or partners in/for business together. Speakers will share their stories, experiences, and insight into how they recognize themselves as equal partners in businesses or for businesses.
According to the 2020 report from the National Women’s Business Council, in 1972, women only owned 4.6 percent of all businesses in the United States. Now, they own 42 percent of U.S. businesses.
Panelists include Megan and Joe Coyle with Coyle Funeral Home; Rita and Dr. Peter Jassal of Bombay Kitchen; Meg and Dick Ressner of Meg Ressner and Associate, and Sheila and Rodney Eason with Elevate People Solutions.
The ticketed program includes a sit-down dinner catered by the TMA.
HeForShe is a women’s solidarity movement for gender equality. The organization invites men and boys to build on the work of the women’s movement as equal partners, crafting and implementing a shared vision of gender equality that will benefit all of humanity.
