Holland Elementary SCHOOL NEWS

Happy New Year, Holland families. We’ve enjoyed hearing winter break stories and are glad students were back in the building last week.

We always enjoy this time of year, because we’re reminded to set goals for ourselves, both personally and professionally. One exercise you could try at home is creating individual and family goals. Admittedly, some of our goals don’t get met, but it is very gratifying when we do meet our goals.

Here are a few reminders to keep us moving in the right direction at school:

1. Please make sure the information we have in your students record reflects the most up-to-date contact information. This is the data used when it is necessary to send Instant Alert messages.

2. Thank you can’t be said enough to everyone for your flexibility and patience when schedules, menus and other aspects of our operations must be adjusted. Your support is appreciated.

3. Car riders and walkers–please do not drop your child off in front of the school. It disrupts the traffic pattern. We begin letting students out of cars at 8:45 and the majority of the cars are through by 8:55. During this time we get through roughly 100 cars. If you don’t wish to use the loop, then you can park behind the football field and walk your child over. Thank you for being considerate of every child’s safety.

It is important that students bring winter coats each day. Students go out for recess unless the “feels like” temperature drops below 20 degrees. If families are missing a hat, coats, or gloves, found items are placed in our lost and found area outside the gymnasium.

Just before the holiday break, we were fortunate to receive a donation of coats, hats and gloves. If your family is in need of a helping hand with items, please contact Mr. G for assistance,
