Holloway Elementary School’s very own Harper Point, a talented and compassionate third grader, will be featured on 13abc’s Rising Star series. Nominated by Kristine Walter, Harper’s inspiring story will premiere on Monday, December 9, airing between 4 and 5 p.m. Harper recently sat down with 13abc, alongside Mrs. Walter and Mrs. Hughes, to share her journey and achievements.
Kristine Walter, who nominated Harper, shared the difference in Harper’s glow: “Harper Point is a real rising star. While school doesn’t always come easily for her—especially reading— Harper approaches every challenge with an amazing attitude and a genuine desire to grow. Since August, she has made incredible strides in math, writing and reading, thanks to her determination and positivity.
Outside the classroom, Harper continues to shine. She recently received the October responsibility character award, demonstrating her commitment to helping others and showing empathy for those who are different from her. Whether it’s offering support to struggling classmates, showing kindness or stepping in to help without being asked, Harper embodies the spirit of a true leader.
Beyond academics, Harper is a well-rounded star. She’s artistic, plays soccer, loves pretty nails and exudes confidence and kindness. Her mom echoed these sentiments, sharing how Harper consistently shows integrity and leaves a positive impact wherever she goes. Harper’s light is so bright, it inspires everyone she meets—and even the stars seem to take notice.”
“The goal of the Rising Star series is to highlight positive student attributes that enhance the classroom experience for their peers,” said James Starks, 13abc News anchor and creator of the program.
Way to go, Harper. Be sure to tune in on December 9, to see Harper’s feature on 13abc and celebrate this incredible young leader.
