Italian Bowl XLIV organizers are calling all female and male theatrical artists, ages 8 to 12, to audition for the opportunity to entertain during Italian Bowl XLIV pregame and halftime festivities “Broadway in Love—a Wicked Good Time.”
The ten finalists will be invited to perform our National Anthem, and two artists will be chosen by Broadway in Love stars Libby Servais and Stephan Stubbins and a panel of judges to perform during the Italian Bowl’s halftime festivities.
Servais and Stubbins are a married couple, both recognized Broadway artists, with local ties. Maumee High School graduate Servais is respected for her on-Broadway portrayal of Glinda in “Wicked.”
To audition, young artists will be asked to prepare a video introduction and include a one-minute audition song of his/her choice. All are encouraged to choose a favorite piece, either with backing tracks or a capella, that shows off their personality. Audition applications and one-minute performance video tapes will be accepted from May 11 through 19. The top 10 male and female artists will be notified in early June. The judging panel will host the final auditions in-person on Saturday, June 14, at noon, immediately before the start of Mayors’ Cup. All finalists must be available for rehearsals; the schedule will be provided to finalists before the June 14 final judging. Final auditions and the Mayors’ Cup will take place at St. Francis de Sales High School, 2323 West Bancroft Street, Toledo. Male and female winners will be announced at the conclusion of auditions.
Winners will perform live with Servais and Stubbins during halftime of Italian Bowl XLIV on Saturday, June 28, at the University of Toledo Glass Bowl Stadium. The game begins at 3 p.m. Halftime performances will be seen by event attendees and fans throughout the United States, Italy and abroad thanks to the live broadcast/streaming offered by Buckeye Cable Sports Network.
