From there to here, from here to there, Journal readers are everywhere.
This week’s Journal reader, editor Jane Maiolo and her husband Jim, notched an item off their bucket list, traveling to Albuquerque, New Mexico in early October, for the International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. The couple intended to visit last year for their 35th wedding anniversary, but the event was canceled due to the pandemic.
Instead of a selfie, the editor opted to enlist several enthusiastic Albuquerque police officers who posed alongside their pink breast cancer awareness vehicle. The officers were more than happy to hold a copy of the Journal, which featured a photo of one of their favorite former NFL players–Holland native Rick Upchurch of the Denver Broncos. Below is a small sample of the hundreds of balloons that covered the field each day of the weeklong event before inflating and soaring above the city.
Readers and advertisers are encouraged to submit photos of themselves with the newspaper while on vacation. Try to include a familiar background. For example, the Manitou cliff dwellings make a good background for a reader visiting Colorado Springs, Colorado. Photos may be submitted by email to editor@hollandsfj.us or by mail to the Journal, P.O. Box 267, Perrysburg, Ohio 43552. If photos are sent by mail and need to be returned, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Please note the name of the person(s) in the photo and their hometown/business as well as any other details you may want to add about the trip.
