JROTC hosts annual Breakfast with Santa

On December 9, Springfield High School’s JROTC boosters hosted Breakfast with Santa at the high school cafeteria feeding almost 400 hungry guests.

The JROTC cadets, above, along with parent boosters, sponsor the annual event, which features a pancake and sausage breakfast, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus and a craft table.

There also were several celebrity servers on hand this year including Superintendent Matt Geha and board member Sherri Koback, left, tossing pancakes to the delight of onlookers.

Below right, youngsters visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, elf helpers and Dudley, the district’s therapy dog, who let Santa know with a wag of his tail how good he has been and that he would like a few meaty bones for Christmas.

First Sergeant Rickey Thomas said proceeds will go toward exhibition drill team uniforms and help pay transportation, lodging and other costs associated with the endeavors of the team to make it to the All Service Nationals Drill Championship.

“I want to thank the community for their support. It helps our program tremendously,” he said, adding, “We believe that getting involved and staying involved with the community is extremely important. We hope you will continue to support JROTC at Springfield High School for years to come.”
