Lucas County Canine Care and Control (LC4) leadership reports the return of weekly public field trips for adoptable shelter dogs.
The Dogs on the Town field trip program pairs participants with LC4 dogs for trips around Lucas County. These outings can last from a few hours to the whole day (or even a sleepover) and can include a hike at an area metropark, lunch on a dogfriendly patio, a nap at a participant’s home or shopping at local dog-friendly businesses.
Dogs on the Town was created to help reduce kennel stress by giving dogs a break from the shelter while simultaneously providing them with enrichment and increased visibility. These field trips give LC4 staff valuable insight into how the dogs behave outside a shelter environment and there is a chance the dogs will meet their future forever family while out and about.
Individuals interested in participating must be at least 18 years old and can sign up at signupgenius.com/go/ 9040848AAAC2EA0F85snout2#/.
Field trips are available on Sundays, as long as the weather permits.
More than 90 adoptable dogs are searching for new homes at the LC4 Center at 410 South Erie Street, Toledo. New dogs become available for adoption daily, and can be viewed online at lucascountydogs.com. If you already have a dog at home and are thinking about adding another, be sure to bring your resident dog for a meet and greet. Families with children also are strongly encouraged to bring them along to help choose their new four-legged friend.
LC4 is always accepting donations of treats, dry dog food, canned food, new and gently used towels, blankets and toys. Monetary donations can be made to Cutie’s Fund to help cover the costs for the medical needs of the dogs who come into the care of LC4.
