Lucas County Canine Care and Control is asking for the public’s help in placing 30 adoptable dogs into temporary foster homes. LC4 will host a dog fostering event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, October 8. The event is designed to reduce the number of dogs in the center, while simultaneously giving the dogs a break from the stress of shelter life. Foster families are asked to house the dogs for at least 14 days, and the center will continue to showcase the animals on social media.
Foster families will be asked to act as ambassadors and do their to best to interact in the community, including take their house guest to dogfriendly locations. Foster dogs will be sent home by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, visit lucascountydogs.com/dogfoster- event-on-october-8th/.
Available dogs are behaviorally and medically evaluated, have had initial vaccines, heartworm testing, deworming, spay/neuter surgery and microchip with lifetime registration.
For October only, the cost to adopt a dog will be a 2022 license, $25 in Lucas County, and the donation of a bag of individually wrapped candy for the upcoming Trunk or Treat event on October 22.
There are more than 180 dogs and puppies housed at canine care with multiple dogs arriving each day.
All dogs looking for a home can be viewed online at lucascountydogs.com/adop tion/ or on the canine care and control Facebook page.
