Lucas County Children Services presents 10th community conversation

Lucas County Children Services, the county agency responsible for leading the community in the protection of children, is sponsoring another in its ongoing series of “community conversations,” to be held Monday, July 28, 5 to 7 p.m., at the Lagrange Branch Library, 3422 Lagrange Street, Toledo.

These free, open conversations begin with the topic of, “Safe Children, Safe Families.” LCCS staff, along with representatives of other community agencies, will discuss many of the concerns that families experience today, and the options that families and caregivers have to prevent child abuse and neglect.

Community partners who will give presentations include Brothers and Sisters United, The Hill Youth Program and Building Futures Behavioral Health. LCCS foster recruitment and family visits representatives will explain how their departments operate. There will also be an agency overview, a questionand- answer session and an update on the current work of the Lucas County Child Protection Task Force.

“These community conversations have evolved into a vital and valuable exchange of information, perspectives and ideas with our families and stakeholders,” explains Hope Bland, Ph.D., LCCS director of diversity, equity, inclusion and strategy. “Parents and caregivers are letting LCCS leaders know what they want, need and expect from us. We, in turn, are trying to provide necessary information on the options and opportunities LCCS and community partners can offer children and families.”

Light refreshments will be available. Further meeting information is available at 419213-3727.
