Lucas SWCD to host H2Ohio informational meeting

A new iteration of Governor Mike DeWine’s H2Ohio phosphorus reduction program is now underway in the Maumee River Watershed.

The Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District (Lucas SWCD) is hosting a free informational meeting on Tuesday, September 19, at 9 a.m., inside the Ward Pavilion at Wildwood Metropark for local farmers to learn about H2Ohio and other agricultural programs available to them.

The updated version has been reworked to be more efficient and easy to use for area agricultural producers, while maintaining the goal of reducing the risk of nutrient runoff into the lake.

A major change in this new version is the use of an online portal called ‘My-Farms,’ which will be used to manage all the enrollment, nutrient management plan development, contracting and verification of practices.

Representatives from Ohio Department of Agriculture, Ohio Agricultural Conservation Initiative, and Lucas SWCD will be presenting the information and be available to answer questions.

Light refreshments will be provided and door prizes while supplies last.
