The Toledo-Lucas County League of WomenVoters will host a series of presentations on “Investigating Reality and Discerning Truth in News and Other Media” at 5:30 p.m., Mondays, April 22 and 29 and May 6.
Held at the McMaster Family Center for Lifelong Learning in the Toledo Lucas County Public Library, 325 Michigan Street, the presentations are free and open to the public.
Current discourse involving opinions, political and otherwise, runs towards the extremes. In recent years, opinions have polarized people as the left/right divide.
This three-part presentation will explore: how humans learn and discern reality; the ways in which our senses fool us; the common methods used to manipulate understanding, and determining what is true.
The program’s objective is to identify ways that help people move their opinions towards a center point where constructive dialog can take place and positive solutions to challenges can evolve.
The series is presented by John Krochmalny, Huse Torrence Institute, in conjunction with the Multifaith Council of Northwest Ohio, the League of Women Voters of Toledo-Lucas County and the Toledo Lucas County Public Library.
Presentations will be in person, on Zoom and recorded for future viewing on the LWV Toledo-Lucas County website.
Each session is approximately two hours in length.
