Mayor Kapszukiewicz shares changes in city administration

Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz recently shared that Tyrome Alexander, who serves as the director of human resources, and Gretchen DeBacker, the director of marketing and communications, are moving on to pursue other job opportunities.

After serving Toledo since 2019, Mr. Alexander completed his duties on February 23. His next position will take him to Richmond, Virginia, where he will become the human resources director.

“I am eternally thankful for the opportunity and work experiences that the city has provided me,” Mr. Alexander said. “It has been my honor and pleasure to be a member of the Kapszukiewicz administration and to work with a group of amazing and dedicated employees.”

Victoria Coleman will serve as interim director until a replacement is named.

During Ms. DeBacker’s five-year tenure with the city, she made significant contributions serving first as legislative director and then as director of marketing and communications.

She also oversaw communications during the COVID response efforts at the emergency operations center. Ms. DeBacker now plans to pursue a new opportunity in her legal career.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work for the City of Toledo and to serve its residents,” Ms. De-Backer said.

Rachel Hart will become the interim director of the department of marketing and communications.

“I want to extend my sincere appreciation to Tyrome Alexander and Gretchen DeBacker for their exceptional service to the City of Toledo,” said Mayor Kapszukiewicz. “I am grateful for all of their hard work and dedication. Their contributions to our city will leave a lasting impact. I wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.”
