Metroparks seeks volunteers to assist with waterway cleanup

In the Metroparks Toledo continued effort to help clean up the Maumee River and Lake Erie, the parks will be installing two floating trash collectors called Seabins at Glass City Metropark in June.

As part of this effort, Metroparks is looking for volunteers to help clean the bins periodically. This will require pulling the bins into the docks, removing the collection basket and recycling/throwing away the collected materials. Since this is a new program, organizers are not certain how frequently they will need to be cleaned or what the procedure for removing the trash will be, so volunteers willing to provide feedback would be appreciated.

There will be an information meeting/training in June.
