Conservation Club
The club is offered September through June, with one to two Saturday sessions a month.
Conservation Club is an opportunity for high school aged students who are interested in careers in natural resources, park services and outdoor recreation to learn skills and career development from Metroparks staff.
They can learn current land management practices, how to build and maintain public areas, participate in stewardship and restoration projects and experience outdoor recreational programs such as kayaking and tree climbing.
Active participants will be invited to attend a multiday excursion to Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania at the end of June 2026.

Wildwood Weeding Parties, Wildwood Preserve Metropark
Wildwood weeding parties at Wildwood Preserve Metropark, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Dates and meeting locations are: Tuesday, July 8, Manor House administration entrance; Saturday, July 12, Manor House pergola/pool screen; Wednesday, July 16, Metz Stables and Thursday, July 24, Ward Pavilion.
Help the horticulture staff weed Wildwood’s many gardens. Tools are provided but volunteers should bring their own gloves, wear closed-toe shoes and wear long pants. Trash Pickup, Glass City Upriver (International Park)/Ravine Area Offered every second Wednesday and fourth Sunday. Next volunteer days are July 9 and 27, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Singletrack Bike Trail Days, Oak Openings Preserve Metropark
Offered every second and fourth Saturdays, next volunteer days are July 12 and 26, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Participants will assist with repairing the singletrack mountain bike trail. Activities include digging drainage, moving dirt and gravel, trimming brush and potentially constructing a boardwalk or stone path. Meet at the Wheelhouse, 3520 Waterville- Swanton Road, Swanton. Get the Lead Out Paddling and Shoreline Water Way Cleanup, Glass City Metropark Offered Wednesday, July 16, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Metroparks is joining teams with Partners for Clean Streams (PFCS) for the continuation of their annual Get the Lead Out program. Metroparks will have two groups–one on the water and one on shore.
To clean up from the canoes, volunteers must be 12 or older, and 8 and older from the shore. Must have an adult if under 16. Sign up on VicNet or through PFCS’s website. The options are posted separately so read the sign-up notes to make sure you are scheduled for the correct one.

Garden Keepers Needed at Toledo Botanic Garden The Toledo Botanical Gardens is looking for experienced gardeners to help in their heirloom, English border and color gardens. Garden Keepers are volunteers who are assigned a landscaping bed at the Metropark of their choosing and are tasked with its care and maintenance over the course of the year. Mascots Needed

Metroparks is now recruiting Nature Walk Leaders. With guidance and training from Metroparks staff, these volunteers walk the trails while leading interpretive nature walks for area schools and the general public.
