At the Springfield Township Trustees meeting on February 6, the committee provided planning and zoning reports, fiscal updates for the city, approved minutes from their previous meeting and shared public reports regarding several goals of the trustees.
Planning director Jacob Barnes shared the zoning permits report for January of 2023—in the month of January, 10 permits were issued bringing $1,330 in fees to the township. Mr Barnes also reported 2022 statistics from the Planning Department; 264 permits were issued in Springfield, 30 of which were for dwellings; the department provided reviews and recommendations on two variance/appeal requests, and processed 46 violations.
Fiscal officer Barbra Dietze reported the payment listing from local businesses. As of February 6, payments from vendors totaled $93,547, with electronic transactions totaling $597,419.
Michael Hampton, administrator for the trustees, shared the public administration report. His report included a:
•Written letter from the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments which thanked the trustees for their partnership and acknowledged Mr. Hampton’s appointment to represent the township caucus as a member of the organization’s board.
•Letter written by the trustees to secretary of transportation, Pete Buttigieg, in support of the Lucas County Engineer’s application for the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity grant funds.
•Quote from Hank’s Plumbing and Heating for the cost of directional drill pipes to hook into the gravity sewer system, project assistance from an electrician and grass restoration. The projected cost is $30,000.
•Message from the Lucas County Health Department, thanking all involved Springfield Township residents for the hospitality shown to WIC staff who were offered emergency accommodations when their building experienced water damage in January.
