In conjunction with Giving Tuesday, Nature’s Nursery, 7541 Dutch Road, Waterville, held an open house on November 28 and will host a second on Saturday, December 2, from 2:30 to 5 p.m.
Supporters are invited to meet the animals used in the nursery’s educational programming, above.
Allison Aey, executive director, said to care for the animals that are brought in with injuries or those that are permanent residents, the center is seeking donations from the public.
“We have a fund-raising goal of $10,000,” she said, adding that as of Wednesday morning, they had exceeded the goal, raising $11,700. Ms. Aey noted it has been a busy year for the organization, which to date, has admitted 3,452 animals in need of care. Needed supply donations include cleaning supplies, paper towels, woodchip pet bedding, gift cards to local grocery or general stores and piddle pads. Visitors can show their support with a purchase from the gift shop, which features Tshirts and other items. A nonprofit organization, Nature’s Nursery provides medical care to injured, orphaned or ailing wild animals, and conducts conservation educational outreach programs for children and adults.
