To the Holland/Springfield community:
Most of you may remember Tara Seibert from this time last year. She was our honorary captain for this same event. Last year at this time, Tara was diagnosed with a very aggressive breast cancer and she was just a few months into her treatment. Immediately after our friends and family learned of Tara’s diagnosis, the outpouring of love and support from our Springfield community began to shower upon us daily.
Friends created a “Tara’s Tribe” Facebook group with over 400 members to care for and support Tara. They also organized a “Tara’s Tribe” facemask design, sales, and distribution campaign that raised an amazing amount of money to help in Tara’s medical bills.
We had friends and family who organized and delivered an almost 8-month long meal train. It was a huge amount of food. I think we might still be eating some of those frozen leftovers. The culture of caring for and supporting others in this community is unsurpassed.
2020-21 has been a unique and trying time for all of us. However, with the amazing love and support of all of you, Tara’s battle with this disease has been remarkably improved. Tara has undergone months and months of aggressive chemotherapy, radiation and surgeries. However, as of today we can proudly say that Tara’s lab results and diagnosis are reported as cancer free.
Tara has a few more surgeries in the coming year. However, they will be of a more positive light than what she has endured thus far.
Someone once said, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.” We are moving forward and putting all of this behind us. One thing we will never forget is the gift God has given us in all of you.
We are reminded of a quote by Oprah Winfrey: “Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher.” That is exactly what we have done in this community. Amazing friends and family surround us every day in our Holland/Springfield community.
To the Holland/Springfield families and Lady Blue Devils soccer team, we say “thank you.” To the amazing doctors and medical staff who cared for Tara through these past 15 months, we say “thank you” And, to our Lord above for His strength, love, and the best ever “C” word “courage,” we pray “thank you.”
