Outdoor warning siren test canceled, next test in February

Lucas County’s outdoor warning siren test–typically held at noon the first Friday of each month–was canceled for January.

The county cited extreme cold weather as the reason for the cancellation. Excluded were the five Jerusalem Township and Davis Besse sirens which were tested as normal by the plant.

A spokesperson for the county said the cold weather could cause the siren mechanisms to freeze, and if activated, damage may occur.

The next monthly siren test is scheduled for noon, February 4.
