Parker’s Purpose reverse raffle dinner fund-raiser to be July 23

Parker’s Purpose will hold a reverse raffle dinner auction on Friday, July 23.

The local non-profit organization was founded more than a decade ago by Rossford High School football coach and teacher Todd Drusback.

The 501(c)3 organization is dedicated to helping Toledo area parents in immediate financial crisis with ill or disabled children.

This is the 12th year for the benefit dinner.

Coach Drusback founded Parker’s Purpose in 2008 while coaching at Fremont St. Joseph’s High School.

He was inspired by Parker Inks, who has congenital muscular dystrophy and served as a ballboy and pre-game motivational speaker for the team.

“Despite his disadvantages, he has always kept an amazingly optimistic outlook and attitude,” Coach Drusback explained.

“Through the years, Parker has proven that he can do a lot. Now a student at Bowling Green State University, he also has been an honorary ambassador for Easter Seals and has helped raise thousands of dollars for the organization.

“Parker’s motto is ‘Don’t let what you can’t do interfere with what you can do.’”

Coach Drusback noted that Parker’s struggles have brought hundreds of people together, through a variety of fund-raisers, to help families in financial crisis.

Since 2008, Parker’s Purpose has helped more than 200 families with donations totaling more than $350,000.

The fund-raiser at Ole Zim’s Wagon Shed in Gibsonburg begins with an auction at 5 p.m., and buffet dinner at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $75 and include dinner, drinks and a reverse raffle number.

The grand prize is $4,000.

Only 275 tickets are available.
