For 58 years, Penta Career Center has provided career-technical training programs for high school students in the community. It was the first multi-county vocational school in the nation when it opened in 1965. In 2008, Penta opened a new, 522,000 square-foot school on Buck Road in Perrysburg Township.
Penta’s career-technical training and academic courses prepare high school students for college, careers, the military, additional certifications, or wherever their paths may lead. Penta currently offers 30 career-technical programs for students in areas such as marketing, business, health, construction, manufacturing, human services, agriculture, and transportation. Free college credit plus options are also available to students.
Penta serves 16 area school districts including: Anthony Wayne, Bowling Green, Eastwood, Elmwood, Genoa, Lake, Maumee, North Baltimore, Northwood, Benton-Carroll-Salem, Otsego, Perrysburg, Rossford, Springfield, Swanton and Woodmore.
Penta also provides training programs for area adults through its Adult Post-Secondary division. Short-term programs include auto maintenance and light repair, construction technologies, dental assisting, HVAC, phlebotomy, precision machining/CNC programming and welding.
Also, customized workforce development training is offered for businesses and industries. Free Aspire (high school equivalency preparation) classes are provided at many convenient locations in the community.
