Raymond Lopez achieves rank of Eagle Scout

Springfield Township resident, Raymond Lopez, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop 114. Beginning as a Tiger Scout in kindergarten, Ray worked his way up through Webelos, and then crossed over into Boy Scouts in fifth grade. His leadership positions have included patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, chaplain’s aide and librarian.

Ray earned a total of 41 merit badges, 20 more than are required for Eagle, and the first in his troop to receive four Eagle Palms at the time of earning his Eagle rank.

For his Eagle Scout project, Ray wanted to help combat bullying, so he created a buddy bench for local elementary school, St. Joan of Arc.

He would like to thank Troop 114, especially his scoutmaster Mr. McIntyre, and his mother, Gina Lopez, who also is a scout leader, for helping him to work hard and achieve the prestigious rank of Eagle.

An Eagle Scout Court of Honor is planned in Ray’s honor at St. Joan of Arc on Sunday, November 21.

Ray plans to attend Bowling Green State University next fall to pursue a degree in computer science.
