Well in advance of the 2024 football season, Springfield High School’s football field received a much-needed makeover. Last fall, the school board awarded the project to Hellas Construction of Boardman, Ohio, for $543,728. The company is replacing the field which is in excess of 10 years and had reached the end of its useful life. Artificial turf typically lasts eight to 10 years, explained Treasurer Ryan Lockwood. Above and below, crews begin the process of taking up the old field.
