SHS introduces the 2021 Homecoming court

Springfield High School’s Homecoming court has a new twist this year. In years past, the court has been comprised of female members from each class, but this year advisor Carrie Wcislek said the court will feature male counterparts as well. “We added boys to the court this year, so we will have male and female Homecoming Royalty crowned at the game,” she said.

Members of the 2021 Homecoming court are, front row from left, junior Audrey Miller; seniors Toniah Inthanamith, A'-Maya Hodges, Madison Darrah, Alyssa Breidling, and Kara Bolton; sophomore Maira Scott, and freshman Madelyn Gilly. Back row from left are junior Jack Semler; seniors Amari Martinez, LaMarr Issac, Troy Williams, Connor Ferguson and Jesus Almanza; sophomore Tyler Mack, and freshman Aiden Ziehr.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, the parade has been modified, Ms. Wcislek explained. “It will begin in the teachers’ parking lot between the high school and middle school. There will not be any class floats, and only a limited number, 10 to 15 kids, will march in the parade with the banner.”

She noted the underclass Homecoming court will walk in the parade, and seniors will ride in golf carts. “We are asking seniors to invite a staff member who impacted their education to drive a cart for them,” she added. The parade begins at 6:15 p.m., Friday, October 8 and passes the middle school and Holland elementary buildings before turning down Hall toward Community Stadium.

Crowning of the Homecoming queen and king will take place during halftime of the game against Maumee.
