On April 27, the Association of the Two Toledos held a Spanish honors night to recognize high school students who have excelled with the Spanish language throughout their high school careers.
Springfield High School was represented by senior Kyla Carter, who was nominated by teacher Amy Neal. Kyla has taken Spanish all four years of high school.
She also traveled to Costa Rica last summer with other SHS students to learn about conservation of the environment, which is a national purpose in the country. While there, she experienced cultural exchanges and immersion in Spanish with family homestays, visiting schools and volunteering in the town of Pacayitas in the province of Limón.
