SLS board room named after Ken Musch

Family, friends and educators, past and present, gathered in the Springfield Schools administration complex to recognize long-time board member Ken Musch.

It was standing room only at the January 24 meeting when the school board unanimously named the meeting room after Mr. Musch. Above is the board member with the plaque, which hangs on the entry wall to the meeting room. It reads “honoring an over four decades legacy of leadership, guidance, commitment, expertise, professionalism and service to students, staff and families in the greater Springfield community.”

“The dedication of this room in his name represents years of distinguished service by Mr. Musch during which he received regional and statewide recognition for his contributions to boardsmanship including the Ohio School Boards Association’s Award of Achievement. His service also earned him selection as a master board member, receipt of the OSBA’s prestigious Dr. Neil Pohlmann Award of Excellence in Education, selection to the All NW Ohio regional board, and in 2000 as an All-Ohio board member.”

Ev Harris, board president, noted that Mr. Musch is a 1965 graduate of Springfield High School and has served on the board since 1982. “Ken’s dedication to the district is only matched by his dedication to his family and engineering career,” he added.

“I greatly appreciate this honor,” Mr. Musch said. “This is a great school system and a great staff. Thank you.”

To honor her father, Darlene Euler composed a poem in which she recalls her father’s dedication to family and the school district. The poem closes with, “It’s really no surprise they named part of our school after you. After all, you take things to the next level, Ken Musch; you are our true Springfield Blue Devil.”
