On November 9, Spectrum donated $1,000 to Veterans Matter through the company’s national community philanthropic program, Spectrum Employee Community Grants.
Veterans Matter will use the funds for the Project Zero Campaign. Their mission is to help homeless veterans and their families with funds needed to obtain permanent housing. They are currently trying to raise funds to help as many of the nation’s heroes off the streets and into homes of their own.
A check presentation was held at the Veterans Matter Toledo office with State Senator Theresa Gavarone.
“Through Spectrum Employee Community Grants, we’re proud to provide support to vital community organizations with which our local employees are already volunteering their time and talent,” said Brian Young, state government affairs director. “Together, we’re building stronger communities where our customers and employees live and work across America.”
“What an honor to award Veterans Matter this Spectrum Employee Community Grant,” Sen. Gavarone said. “It’s wonderful that Spectrum has an award recognizing their employees doing great work and Veterans Matter is doing so much to address our homeless veterans. They are a valuable resource to veterans in our community.”
Spectrum Employee Community Grants has provided funding to more than 336 local nonprofits in 31 states throughout the company’s service area since its inception in July 2019.
Recipients deliver critical social services, helping underserved residents meet basic needs, including food, shelter, clothing, job training and neighborhood safety.
Each awardee is nominated by one of the company’s 93,000 U.S. employees who has volunteered with the organization for at least one year.
