At the October 11 study session, the Springfield Board of Education took action on a number of personnel matters.
The board awarded one year classified contracts to Amy Anderson, 3 hour Crissey food service, and Rubi Otero Mattero, 3 hour SMS food.
They issued changes in assignment to Tami Bombick, from 3 Hour SMS food service to Crissey attendance secretary; Laura Dauer, from Crissey attendance secretary to Holland secretary to the principal, and Sean Westhoven, from bus mechanic to head bus mechanic.
Casual labor contracts were granted to Angelica Brown, Lee Chau and Timothy Lewallen–Blue Devil fields; Curtis Cunningham, George Davis, Nathan Dixon, Aundre Graham, Amy Hagan, Cynthia Hall, James Howe, Jennifer Leasure, Sandra Mc-Caleb, Kelly Meek, Terrie Murphy, Christina Robinson, Christina Ruiz, April Shaw and Emily Witte–athletic, and Curtis Cunningham, George Davis, Nathan Dixon, Aundre Graham, Heather Hawk, Timothy Lewallen, Sandra Mc-Caleb, April Shaw, Karen Willis and Emily Witte–stadium cleanup.
The board also approved a personal service contract to Anisa Warr, publicity for Blue Devil Drama.
Pupil activity permits were issued to Raul Arredondo, SHS girls basketball assistant coach; Noah Badenhop, SHS bowling assistant coach; Maxine Clum SMS winter guard director; Bill Dodson, SHS wrestling assistant coach; Tyler Haughawout, SHS boys volleyball assistant coach; Kobee Houghtlen, SHS assistant football co-coach; Todd Reitz, SHS JVboys basketball assistant coach JV; Anthony Scott, SHS boys volleyball head coach and wrestling assistant coach, and Dennis Springs SHS boys varsity basketball assistant coach.
The board accepted the resignation of Erin Sheller, Dorr 3 hour food service, effective October 10, and employed student Victoria Dotson and Lily Sherman, theatre technicians.
Substitute teacher contracts were granted for Destany Maidlow, Heather Mossing, Todd Reitz and Jehan Younes, and Kyle Linehan will serve as a substitute bus driver for field trips.
Supplemental contracts were awarded at Holland Intermediate–Corey Fritch, Nichol Riston and Emily Witte, evening school monitors; Middle School–Ricardo Aguilar, Kailyn Bates, Maggie Christie, Morgan Roe, and Jennifer Tighe, culture and climate building leaders.
Appointed as homebound tutors and out of school instructors were Bonita Adams, Ricardo Aguilar, Eric Bachar, Natalie Kalo, Matthew Kistner, Brandy Klena, Benjamin Miller, April Shaw, Shelby Simon, Jennifer Vasquez, Craig Waltos and Emily Witte.
Other Business
In other business, the board of education:
•Paid $59,565 to Chartwells Dining Services for August/September food purchases and management.
•Approved job descriptions for Afro-American Club advisor at the high school and middle school; eSports assistant coach, and science Olympiad advisors and assistant advisors, for SHS and SMS.
•Entered into an agreement with Boundless for special education student placement for alternative education services.
•Accepted an anonymous donation of $250 for the SMS pep squad spirit shirts.
•Approved two special requests to attend professional development programs.
•Received an overview of activities at Holloway Elementary School from Principal Nelle Ratliff.
The next board of education meeting is at 4:15 p.m., Thursday, October 27, at the administration building, 6900 Hall Street, and is open to the public.
